Electric Jesus Corpse

Electric Jesus Corpse has got to be one of the best Bizarro books out there. Carlton Mellick III first novel he wrote when he was 18 shows how talented he was by that age. This novel seems like a good zombie B-movie. Its a completely odd version of the story of Jesus Christ set in a bizarre modern day on earth where the land is over run by zombies, the landscape is turning into meat, and humans are slowly turning into robots. The Story follows the twelve apostle of Christ's. The twist with that also though is that the twelve apostles are pimps, punks, necrophiliacs and other kind of freaks and they hate Jesus and don't want to follow him and his crusade on trying to say humanity at all. So it follows the apostles and their journeys in the bizarre world. Its full of crazy and scary situations with a bit of dark humor on the side. So I think its a definite buy if want to read something that deals with zombies and a different look on the bible.

Angel Dust Apocalypse

Angel Dust Apocalypse is by Jeremy Robert Johnson one of the leading authors in the Bizarro Movement. This book is fantastic I really enjoyed it. What Angel Dust Apocalypse is a collection of short stories that Jeremy Robert Johnson made and they all are different they be talking about drugs, spiritual, murder, weird, or nightmarish things and they all are very good. After going through all of the short stories at the end it has these three parts that the author made for the book and its pretty interesting. So this book is another one that can be really good for helping people see if they will like Bizarro books or not.

Grape City

Ok well I'm in The A.P.A. which stands for the Avant Punk Army. So what we try to do is spread the word about Bizarro books and this is basically one of the reasons why I made this blog for school because I thought it be a great way to spread the word out about Bizarro and help the A.P.A. Also i'm in this Bizarro Book Club on myspace and this is the book we are going to talk about soon so....thats why i'm going to make a post about it. Grape City the Book Synopsis goes like this... Meet Charles, a demon forced to work shitty minimum wage jobs ever since Hell went out of business. He now lives in Grape City, which would be the worst place on Earth, provided all other cities weren't just as bad. While adjusting to his new way of life, Charles passes the time by writing emails to Satan, going on blind dates with mortal women, and attempting to fit in with human society . . . . . . unfortunately society is a mess of chaotic absurdities in which bang-murdering and hack-raping are cultural norms." Now I have to say this book was pretty funny I thought it was funny how this Demon who was name Charles now is working at a fast food restaurant and how he hates this human life he has to live now and the things he sees going back to his apartment can be pretty odd and the book just goes through the whole week and its slowly leading up to Beating up Demons day and that he doesn't want any participant in it at all. The Imagery in this book I found was pretty good how he talked about what Charles was thinking and where he was living and seeing I felt like I was there at that moment. Also the town the author Kevin L. Donihe made him live was so obscene that glad there not a real place like that or at least of what I don't know of. It's a short novel and pretty cheap too if your starting to like Bizarro by now should definitly try picking this one up.

Planet Terror

Ok another special movie i'm going to talk about Planet Terror. This has to be one of my favorite movies of all time. Its an action Horror Zombie movie with some laughs in it also....its guy a woman with a gun as a leg how great is that? Well ok it was made by Robert Rodriguez and it was for the Grindhouse feature that him and Queintin Taritino did for theaters. Now a Grindhouse is when in the 70's the drive-in movies they would show B-movies which is pretty cheaply made movies and they would be two completely different things they wouldn't be the same really at all. Now with Planet Terror its about the U.S. Military soldiers that are in Texas and they need to get this Biological Gas for their own uses and it gets release out into the town then slowly people start to get infected by the gas and turn into these nasty mutated zombies and there only a few survivors in which includes the woman with the machine gun for a leg her name is Cherry and this sharp shooter El Wray and they happen to go to the military and try to stop it and thats basically the whole plot of the movie. Also there a bit of dark humor in here which I would laugh about for quite a while and some really gross scenes that will make you cringe so if you like horror/zombie movies then should try getting your hands on this one.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Hey, Hey, Hey alright so I told you in the Blog Description that this blog is mostly going to be reviews for Bizarro Fiction but I also said I would at times talk about a horror movie or just show some weird lyrics. So this is my first Random talk about a horror movie and I got to tell you this is a great one haha. First off just look at the title of this movie "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" that has to be one of the most original titles out there it just plain weird and basically tells you mostly what the movie is. This was a low-budget Comedy/Horror movie and what this movie is about is this couple Mike and Debbie is making out at this private spot that other couples make out too and then they see this meteor rush by them. So they decide to go look for it and see what it is and what they find is a circus tent. Then it just goes in that these aliens that look like Clowns and have Clown type weapons go through the town and attack the people by turning them into cotton candy and later eating them. So a couple of these teenagers decide to fight back and thats what the story is about. For a low-budget 80's movie I enjoy the special effects and I enjoyed this movie I thought at times it was funny and the clowns were a bit creepy looking and if you hate clowns now if you watch this movie you'll most likely cry non-stop. The theme song I really like and basically got hooked on to it its the title song "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" and its by this punk band called The Dickies and again I really just love this song I think its cause since it sounds like such a circus theme I for some odd reason really enjoy songs that sound like the circus. All in all you should try picking this movie up and watch it it's a great cult movie I think and will want to show some of my friends that too.

THE BIZARRO STARTER KIT

Alright I thought I should make The Bizarro Starter Kit my first post review. I got to tell you that this is an amazing book to start out with if you want to try to give some weird fiction a shot. Its a collection of Short Novels and Short Stories by Ten authors who started the Bizarro Fiction. The Authors are D. Harlan Wilson, Carlton Mellick III, Jeremy Robert Johnson, Kevin L Donihe, Gina Ranalli, Andre Duza, VIncent W. Sakowski, Steve Beard, John Edward Lawson, and Bruce Taylor. Some of them can make you laugh, some can make you happy, and some can just make you go "What the hell????." My personal Favorites are Extinction Journals by Jeremy Robert Johnson, Short Stories by D. Harlan Wilson, and The Greatest F***ing Moment in Sports by Kevin L Donihe. All in all this is an awesome book and its at a cheap price another positive note about this book. So if you want to see what the Bizarro Genre is and wonder if you can get interested in it then pick this book up.

Definition of Bizarro

My first post will be explaing what Bizarro is I got this from the Bizarro Starter Kit but if want more information about Bizarro just look at this site.

1. Bizarro, simply put, is the genre of the weird.
2. Bizarro is literature's equivalent to the cult section at the video store.
3. Like cult movies, Bizarro is sometimes surreal, sometimes goofy, sometimes bloody, and sometimes borderline pornographic.
4. Bizarro often contains a certain cartoon logic that, when applied to the real world, creates an unstable universe where the bizarre becomes the norm and absurdities are made flesh.
5. Bizarro strives not only to be strange, but fascinating, thought-provoking, and, above all, fun to read.
6. Bizarro was created by a group of small press publishers in response to the increasing demand for (good) weird fiction and the increasing number of authors who specialize in it.
7. Fictitious Examples of Bizarro: Franz Kafka meets Joe Bob Briggs
Dr. Seuss of the post-apocalypse
Japanese animation directed by David Lynch
Alice in Wonderland for adults
